Shaun Katz, ASTM, IIBEC, AAIA, CSI
Shaun Katz, CSI, ASTM member, is the Business Development Manager with DETEC Systems. He has more than 20 years of experience in customer service and business administration. Katz has assisted facility/property managers and building owners, contractors, architects, engineers, consultants, and manufacturers with forensic leak investigation, as well as leak detection in new construction.
He has performed ELD product demos and presentations worldwide and won the 2020 Presenter of the Year award from the Chicago Chapter of IIBEC. Katz is an active member of CSI, ASTM, and IIBEC. His goal is to provide a basic understanding of Electronic Leak Detection (ELD) and to assist all parties with ensuring valid and conclusive ELD.
Mike Bell
Mike Bell is a commercial building products professional specializing in high-performance facade and exterior envelope systems. With a background in sales and specification support, he works closely with architects, consultants, and contractors to help evaluate and integrate innovative cladding and rainscreen solutions into commercial projects. Mike brings practical insight into sustainable design strategies, code compliance considerations, and constructability best practices, helping project teams balance performance, aesthetics, and long-term value.
Based in the Chicago area and educated at Loyola University Maryland, Mike is passionate about advancing industry knowledge through continuing education. He regularly participates in professional learning initiatives focused on facade technology, water management systems, and emerging building materials. Known for his collaborative, solution-oriented approach, Mike is committed to supporting design professionals with the technical resources and expertise needed to deliver durable, efficient, and visually compelling building envelopes.
Registration for the 2026 IIBEC Chicago Area Chapter Spring Educational Program is now open. The program will take place on Friday, May 15th from 7:00am to 11:30am at Reserve 22 at the Village Links of Glen Ellyn, located at 485 Winchell Way in Glen Ellyn, Illinois.
