Hello IIBEC Chicago Members and Friends! The International Institute of Building Enclosure Consultants Chicago Area Chapter will be conducting our 2023 Fall Program and 40th Anniversary Celebration on Friday, November 3rd from 11:00am to 5:00pm. The program will take place at Revolution Brew Pub located at 2323 N. Milwaukee Avenue in Chicago, Illinois. Lunch and the following two technical presentations will be offered: Tech Session #1: “Incorporating Continuous Insulation into Complex Building Design” by Brad Schwab of Schwab Group/Hunter Xci Tech Session #2: “Understanding the Causes and Significance of Facade Degradation” by Kimberly Steiner and George Reo of Wiss, Janney, Elstner Associates, Inc. Attending will yield 2.0 IIBEC CEHs and 2.0 AIA LU. Online registration and additional meeting information can be found at the link below. The IIBEC Chicago Area Chapter proudly presents Roof System Thermal and Moisture Design, an AIA accredited learning seminar developed by IIBEC which offers 8.0 LU|HSW/CEH. This one-day learning seminar will take place at Maggiano’s Little Italy restaurant in Oakbrook, Illinois (click for google maps). Registration includes breakfast, refreshment breaks, and lunch. Breakfast will be served at 7:00am, class is in session starting at 8:00am, and the day will conclude at 4:15pm.

Course Description
This course is designed to facilitate in-depth thermal and moisture design skills. Topics span beyond basic thermal terminology and calculations to cooling-load calculations, annual energy consumptions and payback calculations, as well as cool roofing, and temperature calculations within cross sections. Moisture starts with the psychrometric chart and moist-air properties. Additional topics include vapor retarders, the effects of moisture on insulation, air barriers, and mold issues. Practice problems are presented and discussed.
